MALACHITE
by Jon Ber
In Africa Malachite is wildly used to create jewelry and
beads, animal ornaments and decorative plates. It
imaintains better value and stability than some countries
currency, such as is the case in the war torn Zaire.

Malachite for mellow in Greek, is possibly the easiest
gemstone to recognize, due to its unique signature of bands
in all shades of green black and white.
The gemstone is a basic carbonate of copper and its bands,
are formed by changes in pressure and heat during its
creation, which lasts some half a million years.

Malachite also evolves together with a whole spectrum of
specimens.
This phenomena of combined entities, brought to existence
such magnificent specimens as Azurite and Chrysocolla.
The gemstone is famous for its usage in the making of
jewelry and ornaments. But it was also used as a color
pigment for painting in Egyptian tombs, thousands of years
ago. Its a simple process of crashing the stone and mixing
it with water. © jonber™
